Interview With Alex

Reading time ~5 minutes

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

I took a couple weeks off of the blog. I had a terrible flu the week before Christmas, then Christmas had me SO delightfully busy this past week. But, I am BACK with another post!

Okay, I KNOW I said no more tag posts for a while… but I didn’t start this one, I promise! It doesn’t count if I was tagged by someone else, right?

Jenn Walter tagged me in her character interview blog post. Seems like a fun way for you guys to get to know the main character of The Guardians of Enlightenment, Alex!

Basic Rundown:

“Here’s the idea for this little character development exercise: Using the 15 questions below, answer them from your character’s point of view. Try to keep their voice consistent. Whether you want to avoid plot spoilers is up to you. You can also do more than one character, but again, make sure their voice is their own. Who knows, you may even learn a few things about them! Now off ya go!“- Jenn

  1. Introduce yourself.
    Me? Oh, I’m Alex.
  2. What do you do for a living?
I’m a teacher. Well, a substitute teacher for now. I just graduated this past June.
  3. What drives you to get out of bed every morning?
Depends on the day, really. If I’m at my dads, my little brother, Caleb. At my place, probably work. I also just moved, so lots of unpacking and organizing to do!
  4. What are your work clothes? and if you don’t work, what’s your style?
I guess it’s called business casual. A nice top with slacks or a skirt, or nice dress. I had to shop for a teaching wardrobe. On my days off I prefer the comfort and casual look; jeans, long sleeve t-shirts, sneakers.
  5. It’s friday, how do you party?
Well, I do love dancing, but that was more during Uni. Now, it’s often just me and Erik, that’s, um, my boyfriend. We’ll go for dinner or a movie, or stay in and hang out.
  6. Can you cook?
Yeah, I can get by. I mean, I have been cooking dinner with my sister since we were young, then a lot for my brother after he came along. I mean, nothing fancy, but I know the basics. I’ll be honest, I make a really good pizza.
  7. What would you say is your biggest accomplishment?
Hmm. that’s a tough one. I can’t say I feel very accomplished yet. I guess, probably landing my job. Even though it’s only subbing, it’s in a big city with a good chance of full time work.
  8. What was your childhood like?
It was great, and complicated. Like everyones is, I guess. I had lots of space to run around and play with my older sister. We moved to a small town when I was 8, so we had lots of cute parades, fairs, and festivals. Yeah, it was good.
  9. What season do you prefer most?
Winter! Because, Christmas. Yes, I know, it’s too cold and wet and-. No. You’re wrong. It’s beautiful and magical and CHRISTMAS.
  10. How do you pass the time when you’re bored?
Boredom is not something I have a lot of experience with. University was busy, and when not in classes I was usually babysitting Caleb, or helping my mom with her resume or job hunt.
  11. What hobbies do you enjoy?
I should really get more hobbies, but as mentioned above, time isn’t really on my side. I love reading, so any free time I get, I usually have a good book to dive into. I used to dance A LOT in high school, but I haven’t really done that on a professional level in years. I do like to hit up this gymnastics club near my dad’s house on open gym night, when I am free.
  12. What traits do you admire in others?
Strong people who know what they want, and go for it. I wish I was more like that.
  13. Do you have any bad habits?
Doesn’t everyone? Seth would say it’s that I can’t say no when my parents ask me to help, especially with Caleb. He’s probably right…I don’t know.
  14. Who is the love of your life?
Wow, love? I mean, maybe Erik? I donno if I’m ready to call it love. Maybe I do?
    If single, any crushes?
    NA
  15. If you fell into a lot of money, what would you do with it?
Buy a house, pay off the rest of my school loans. Petiti… I have a plan that I would push forward with. Then probably hit up Europe with Seth, my cousin; bankroll the whole thing.

That is Alex, for ya! Hope you guys enjoyed getting to know her a bit, including her inexplicable love of winter…
